Still waiting for that fancy new MacBook Pro? Tim Cook says ’stay tuned’

Aside from the appearance of a certain plump plumber, this week’s Apple launch event was pretty pedestrian, proceeding very much as expected.
What might have spiced things up a bit was that rumored new MacBook Pro featuring Touch ID and a touch-sensitive OLED strip.
Alas it was nowhere to be seen. The Mac didn’t receive a single mention and even the release date for macOS Sierra was announced after the event.

The Apple chief told a customer “I love the Mac and we are very committed to it,” in an email seen by MacRumors.
“Stay tuned,” Cook added, hinting there’ll be more news on Mac models soon enough.
Of course, we can’t confirm the legitimacy of the email, but 9to5Mac says it appears to originate from Apple HQ.
To be fair to Apple, most reports building up to Wednesday’s ‘See You’ event had suggested the new MacBook Pro won’t arrive until later in 2016, while the firm refreshed its new Retina MacBook model back in April.
Whether we’ll ever see a new MacBook Air, which hasn’t had a proper update for a couple of years, remains to be seen.
