Star Wars Battlefront coming ‘first on Xbox One’, says Microsoft

Microsoft has seemingly confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront will be first available on the Xbox One.

This means that PlayStation 4 owners will be left high and dry while Xbox One users can play EA’s new Star Wars title.

Xbox Marketing manager Aaron Greenberg tipped the early access on Twitter, tweeting: “Very ready & play it first on #XboxOne!”

While this isn’t exactly a definitive confirmation that Xbox One users will get first access, it’s clearly a big hint.

It’s not an entirely surprising move – EA typically launches its games five days early for Xbox One users that are members of the EA Access program.

This is the first time it’s been acknowledged that Star Wars: Battlefront may be part of the EA Access program, however.

EA Access currently costs £3.99 each month, and is only available for Xbox One users.

Star Wars: Battlefront was first unveiled at E3 2013, landing as the third main entry into the Battlefront game series.

DICE maintains that the new title isn’t a sequel to Battlefront II, instead pushing it as a bigger franchise reboot.

The launch date is set for Christmas 2015, which will tie the game in with the release of the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie. The game will be released on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4.

It’s worth mentioning that Microsoft just slashed the price of the Xbox One to £299.99, so it’s a good time to snap up the console ahead of the Star Wars launch.
