Sony promises PS Plus subscription extensions for PSN outage issues

Sony has promised to extend PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now and other memberships services following the recent PSN outage.
Last night Sony’s PlayStation Network service was down, with Sony simply saying it was “experiencing issues” with the online platform.
The Network Service Status page only showed that the problems were affecting all of the company’s platforms including PS4, PS3 and the web portal.
PSN is now back up and running, and to compensate for the offline period Sony is going to give some memberships extensions to anyone affected.

This can be taken to mean that PS Plus as well as rental times on PlayStation Now and Video will be lengthened to make up for the downtime on PSN.

Sony has yet to give a reason for yesterday’s PSN outage, but we’re hoping it wasn’t DoS attack related.
This isn’t the only recent outage for PSN, with the service buckling under the weight of Black Friday traffic, and some brief issues on Christmas Day.
