Due to be released in two versions, the Razer Edge will offer an Intel i5 processor and 64GB SSD, whilst the Razer Edge Pro will play host to an Intel i7 processor and the option of 128GB or 256GB SSD. The basic model will cost $999 (£569) and the Razer Edge Pro will set you back $1,299 (£857) and $1,499 (£989) for the different storage options.
“The Razer Edge combines the features of full-functioning PCs, touch-enabled tablets and gaming consoles into one incredible, portable form factor,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder, CEO and Creative Director at Razer. “Furthermore, the Razer Edge’s powerful chipset, unique among all tablet computers, ensures that you can take advantage of the world’s most sophisticated games, programs and apps on these multiple platforms anytime.”
Razer Edge Features
The Razer Edge claims to be the first tablet designed for PC gamers, complete with 10.1-inch HD multi-touch display and Nvidia GeForce graphics. Running Windows 8, the Razer Edge is a fully fledged mobile gaming PC in tablet form, and gives users access to a large library of games.
A versatile tablet, the Razer Edge can change into different devices based on the user’s needs. The tablet mode offers a 10.1-inch Windows 8 tablet, but when partnered with the Keyboard Dock the Razer Edge converts to a notebook style PC.
Attaching the Gamepad Controller allows the Razer Edge to offer console-style gaming on the go with full PC game support and vibration feedback. Finally the home console mode Docking Station means the Razer Edge can connect to a desktop display and support multiple gamepad controllers.
All of the Razer Edge peripherals will be available to pre-order alongside the tablet come March 1.
Offering a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1366 x 768 HD resolution, the Razer Edge also sports stereo speakers with Dolby Home Theatre v4 audio technology, a front-facing 2-megapixel webcam, an array of microphones and a USB 3.0 port.
The basic model will ship with an Intel i5 processor with 64GB SSD. The Razer Edge Pro will provide an Intel i7 processor with 128GB or 256GB SSD options available.
