PS4 user interface screenshots officially revealed
Sony has released official, high-resolution screenshots of the user interface for the upcoming PS4 console, which was announced last week.
The images reveal the individual profile page, complete with its next-generation integration of the Sony Trophies achievement system. This user profile page feels much more social media-like than the previous format, detailing the user’s previous activities and links shared via the PS4 image and video capturing tools.
The PS4 UI is reminiscent of the new PlayStation Store design and will feature an accompanying PlayStation Companion App for various smart device platforms also glimpsed in the leaked screenshots.
Providing insight into the sharing process offered by the increasingly digital next-gen console, the images depict a Trim Video editing feature and the sharing options available as part of the key PS4 features.
With the PS4 will pack a significant hardware upgrade from the PS3, playing host to an eight core x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU custom built processor with 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, and a GPU reaching 1.84 teraFLOPS. Capable of going to standby mid-game and then be turned on and played again within seconds, the PS4 will reach performance levels unknown to the PS3 or the recently released Nintendo Wii.
As of yet it is not known what the PS4 will look like, with Sony only confirming the next-gen consoles existence and specs at the recent PS4 event. With an expected PS4 release date lying somewhere in “holiday 2013”, PlayStation fans will just have to console themselves with the official PS4 user interface screen grabs, which you can check out below.
