Although PS4 pre-orders will be accepted right up until the console hits store shelves later this year, recent reports have claimed Sony has informed retail partners that unless orders are placed “before next week,” it can’t guarantee a unit will be available on the day of release. At present a confirmed PS4 release date has yet to be announced beyond Sony’s somewhat vague confirmation that the console will touch down during the “2013 holiday season.” It is believed that a finalised PS4 release date will be revealed during Sony’s Gamescom 2013 press conference on August 20.
