Pokémon Go wiped your Apple Music library? Here’s how to fix it

You’ve probably seen and heard enough about Pokemon Go by now to know it’s one big mega-success, but for some eager Poketrainers, things haven’t gone too smoothly.
Although the game has only officially launched in the US, New Zealand, and Canada, users in the UK and the rest of the world have taken to downloading Pokemon Go through other means.
While Android users are able to download an APK, those on iPhone have used a workaround that involves changing the region settings of their phones and setting up new Apple IDs registered to either Australia, New Zealand, or the US.
Unfortunately, although the method has proved successful, many users are now reporting that the workaround has caused tracks saved on Apple Music, and sometimes entire Apple Music libraries, to disappear.

It seems the problem occurs when users sign out of their old Apple IDs, at which point they are also signed out of Apple Music, which appears to delete the relevant data.

Fortunately, we’ve got a fix for those iPhone users mourning the loss of their carefully curated Apple Music libraries. Don’t worry, you can still keep playing Pokemon Go once you’ve used this method.
Here’s an easy fix for the problem:
1. Firstly, open the App Store and scroll to the bottom, where you should see your Apple ID. Tap ‘Sign Out’.
2. Sign into your previous Apple ID, which you used to register with Apple Music in the first place. You can do this by opening Apple Music and tapping on ‘Account’ in the top-left corner. Now just enter your original Apple ID details and tap ‘Sign In’.
3. Finally, exit Apple Music and open Settings>Music. From here switch iCloud Music Library to ‘On’ and select ‘Merge’.
And that’s it. Your music should reappear – rescued from the brink of permanent deletion.
