PlayStation VR will also have “about 100 or more” titles

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation VR has “about 100 or more” titles in the works for this year.

With the PlayStation VR release date (aka Project Morpheus) lying in the first half of 2016, many are wondering just how many you’ll be able to play on it.

Well, according to Sony CEO Kaz Hirai, there are “probably around 100 or more” VR games currently being made for the PS4-exclusive virtual reality headset.

The executive also revealed that there are already 200 developers signed up to work on the PlayStation VR.

The new came as a response to the BBC‘s questioning as to whether the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift have more “buzz” around them.

“I think the fact that we have more than 200 developers signed up for the PlayStation VR programme who are working on probably 100 more more titles that will play on PlayStation VR is a testament to the kind of support we’re getting from the content creation community on PlayStation VR,” said Hirai.

“I think that we have a lot of good support and it’ll be a great product coming out later this year.”

Hirai was also asked what the potential market for the PlayStation VR will be at launch:

“I think that, for PlayStation, the fact that we offer a very immersive gameplay experience on the PlayStation 4 even on a flatscreen panel today and really taking that into the virtual reality world is more of an immersive gameplay experience that we’re going to be able to provide.”

“So for us, it’s all about making a better and more immersive gameplay experience, which separates us from everybody else.”

Well, Sony, I think Oculus and HTC/Valve are aiming to do that too with their virtual reality headsets.
