Pebble Classic/Steel smartwatches to receive Timeline UI update
Smartwatch pioneer Pebble has announced its first generation watches will be retrofitted with the excellent Timeline UI first seen on the Pebble Time.
In a post on its official blog, the Kickstarter mainstay said the Pebble Classic and Pebble Steel will receive the update next month.
Users of legacy devices on Android can test the beta today ahead of the official roll out.
The scrolling Timeline UI, which arrived as part of the Pebble Time 3.0 operating system, aims to give a linear look at notifications and events in the past, present and future.
For example, you’ll be able to look at sports scores from the previous day, while checking your current steps and flashing forward to see tomorrow’s weather forecast.
Timeline also allows for the expansion of these alerts within standalone apps.
The new UI will come with there public release of Firmware v3.8 for the original watches.

The company wrote: “Bringing Pebble Time’s 3.0 software to non-Time watches has been one of the most challenging projects we’ve tackled. We’re excited to share the results of that hard work with today’s Android Beta and upcoming public release. For us, showing full support to the entire Pebble family with continuous updates is time well spent.”
