OnePlus confirms OxygenOS release date for March
OnePlus has just announced its fledgling OxygenOS Android ROM will be launching as soon as next month.
During an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Reddit, the OnePlus team revealed the OS would be coming in March.
That’s not all, however, as the team also confirmed the update wouldn’t be offered over the air.
What this means is that users who want to enjoy OxygenOS won’t have the update automatically beamed to their device.
Instead, they’ll have to manually flash it, which will likely result in many users not upgrading.

The company also confirmed that OxygenOS would not be able to be flashed onto non-OnePlus handsets.
On the bright side, this means that the ROM will be optimised for OnePlus handsets, improving performance.
“We’re optimising the stack specifically for the POP hardware so you may have the best experience,” continued Pei.

Additional details were also revealed about the OS, including the fact that it would be very close to ‘stock Android’, with a few additional features for ‘convenience’.
