Nokia Music coming Android and iOS?

Nokia Music may be making its way to iOS and Android platforms in the future, breaking free from its Nokia exclusivity.

According to a Chinese rumour, the Nokia Music service will be compatible with Android and iOS devices in the form of web app based versions.

The leaked internal documents suggest the music streaming app will be available for Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows RT, Android, iOS and internet browser platforms in the future, rather than being limited to Nokia devices like the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Nokia has already expanded availability of its Here Maps app to iOS devices and web browsers on other smartphone and tablets, so it may well do the same for Nokia Music.

However, other rumours suggest Microsoft may scrap the service entirely when the company completes its buyout of Nokia. It may also combine the service with the Xbox Music streaming service, which is being promoted ahead of the Xbox One release date next week.

Nokia Music Features
Nokia Music is a Spotify-like music streaming service that offers free access to genre-themed radio stations and mixes crafted from the catalogue of 22 million songs.

These playlists are added to each week and include celebrity curated entries. They can also be saved to listen to offline, and up to 3 hours’ worth of music storage you’ll get for free.

If you fancy upgrading to a pay monthly model, you’ll get access to Nokia Music + . This enables you to skip songs, take as many playlists as you want offline, and access music from the web and your laptop.

Like Spotify, your own music collection will be integrated with the Nokia Music app using the Windows Phone app for PC or Mac.

Nokia has yet to formally announce any platform extensions for its Nokia Music app, but we’ll keep you posted of any developments on the latest rumour.
