Despite chucking most of its eggs in the Windows Phone basket, Nokia still relies somewhat on its cheaper feature phones to bring home the Finnish bacon.
The newly-announced Nokia 515 handset, which runs the company’s Series 40 software, emphasises why there’s still life in the more modest of mobile devices.
The sleek, one piece anodised aluminium device features an old-school alphanumeric keyboard and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for those still adverse to touchscreen smartphone devices.
The 2.4-inch screen is of low resolution at 320 x 240, but the camera is a relatively decent 5-megapixels with an LED flash. The camera also features a voice-guided self portrait feature, while there’s also HSPA connectivity, microSD and 38 days of battery life on standby.
Thankfully, Series 40 isn’t completely devoid of smartphone-style apps. The Nokia 515 comes with YouTube and WhatApp apps built in, while there’s also a Nokia Xpress web browser.
There’s no official word on whether device will launch in the UK or the US, but some European countries will receive it in the next week for the meagre price of €115.
