Tesla has updated its entry-level Model S vehicle with a host of improvements, including boosted range.
The new version, dubbed the Tesla Model S 70D, offers a bigger 70kWh battery and all-wheel drive.
By contrast, the previous vehicle had a smaller 60kWh battery, which means we’ll see increased range on the new car.
Tesla reckons owners of the new Model S will be able to squeeze 15 per cent more driving out of a single charge, which means the 70D boasts an impressive 240-mile range.
This upgrade in range means the cost has been boosted slightly, however; the new vehicle marks up at $75,000 (£50,000), which is $4,000 (£2,700) up on its predecessor.
“Even at a starting price of $75k, the Model S 70D offers a broad and compelling set of features,” explained the Tesla Motors Team, writing in a blog post.

Tesla also claims that the new Model S is worth the added cost, suggesting there are huge savings to be had courtesy of the electric motor.

These savings don’t mean you have to skimp on automotive oomph however, with the new Model S rocking a 0-60mph of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 140mph.
The Model S 70 D is available from today, April 8, in three new colours, specifically Ocean Blue, Obsidian Black, and Warm Silver.
