Most portable 17-inch gaming laptop, the Razer Blade Pro announced

Razer today announced the release of the Razer Blade Pro, a high-performance 17-inch gaming laptop focussed on portability.

While the Blade Pro is not the lightest 17-inch laptop on the market it is one of the thinnest, measuring just 22.4mm thick. Where it impresses, however, is its performance: “The Razer Blade Pro packs extreme performance in an ultra-portable form factor” says Rene Haas, vice president and general manager of notebook GPUs at NVIDIA while Navin Shenoy, vice president and general manager of Intel’s Mobile Client Platforms tells us that “what Razer has done with the Blade Pro is groundbreaking,”

Razer Blade Pro Specs
The Blade Pro is one of the first laptops announced to feature feature Intel’s 4th generation Core processor, codednamed Haswell. This will be a quad-core i7 version with as yet unknown clock speeds or performance but we would expect a handy bump above the equivalent Ivy Bridge 3rd-gen Core processor at the same speed.

Other features include 128GB SSD as standard (upgradable to 256GB or 512GB) and 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM and one of NVIDIA’s latest graphics cards for portable devices, the GeForce GTX 765M.  The GTX 765M sits in the middle of the new range of GPUs with a base clock speed of 850MHz, a memory clock of 4GHz and 2GB of GDDR5. This GPU has more than enough power for 1080p full HD gaming and Razer has matched it with a 1920 x 1080 resolution display.

Razer’s Switchblade User Interface (SBUI), which allows you to use 10 dynamic keys that adapt depending on the app currently in use and provides a highly sensitive LCD trackpad, has also been given an upgrade and now comes bundled with Adobe Photoshop and Premier and Maya free of charge (version information not provided).

The Razer Blade Pro will be available for pre-order from the 3rd of June starting at $2299, or around £1500 in the UK, from Razer directly.
