Facebook is a two-dimensional web-page for most of us, but its founder wants the future to be 360.

Mark Zuckerberg has talked up virtual reality, describing his vision for the burgeoning technology.

The Facebook CEO said he believes that “VR is the next platform”, and described how the social network would soon feature dedicated social VR apps.

“Pretty soon we’re going to live in a world where everyone has the powet to share and experience whole scenes as if you’re right there’,” said Zuckerberg, speaking at the Samsung MWC 2016 press conference.

The Facebook founder described his hopes to capture his newborn daughter’s early days in the 360-degree medium, noting regret that the technology hadn’t arrived sooner.

When I took my first steps, my parents just took a pen and wrote down the date’’ Zuckerberg explained. “When my cousin’s son took his first steps, she took a video on her phone.”

“I want to capture the whole scene, and I hope that we can capture a 360 video,” he continued.

The Harvard drop-out also said that while VR is “still mostly used for games and entertainment”, the platform is “quickly evolving”.
