iType Smartwatch lets you type on your wrist
There’s no shortage of smartwatches around, but no one has nailed letting you type on your wrist. The iType Smartwatch has a solution.
It uses a new keyboard layout to let you type quickly and easily – no mean feat, on such a small screen. The keyboard takes up the whole screen, and, like a lot of messaging apps, uses predictive text to guess what the next word will be.
Down the right-hand side of the screen are buttons for delete, space and punctuation symbols. As you type, your words appear at the top of the screen. And you can swipe your finger across the screen too, to make it even faster.
You can choose from thousands of keyboard colours too. It runs Android apps, and doubles as a phone, so you can make calls through it.

There’s no word on specs, however. The firm says the watch’s battery lasts “as long as your smartphone’s”, which means about a day. The screen is said to be “high resolution”, and it’s water-resistant. But we want more details.
Watch the video below. You can’t argue with the speed. However, it would have made more sense to launch the typing tech as an app for Android Wear smartwatches, rather than as a standalone piece of hardware. It’s not much of a looker, for one thing.
It’s seeking $100,000 on Kickstarter, and has 29 days to go.
