Instagram finally enabling multi-account support

Facebook-owned photo-sharing app Instagram is now offering users the ability to easily shift between accounts.

Starting this week, the company is rolling out an update enabling users to simply tap the user name at the top of the profile to switch between accounts.

Adding a new account can be accomplished easily via the settings tab on both iOS and Android, and the new version of the app (7.15) will support up to five accounts.

Naturally the account shown on the profile page will be the account new photos will be posted to.

Push notifications will be handled differently depending “on when you last logged in and the number of devices that are logged in to an account,” the company wrote on a help page.

The decision joins multi-account support on Instagram’s parent company Facebook and indeed Twitter.

Adding multi-account support will halt the need to log out of one account in order to log into another.

Given many of its user base have personal and business accounts, it’s a hassle free solution that’s well overdue.
