HTC Vive release date to be announced mid-October

The HTC Vive release date should be announced in mid-October along with the final consumer version.
You should be able to take a look at the final consumer HTC Vive virtual reality headset in October, with the release date to be confirmed at the same time.
That’s accoridng to HTC’s Executive Director of Marketing Jeffrey Gattis anyway.
“We are targeting mid-October, but have not yet finalised the event details, venue, etc,” explained Gattis to TechRadar.
Although this is a great sign that hardware development is trundling along, HTC wasn’t ready to commit to any launch schedule for its virtual reality gear just yet.
“Our hardware development, for the consumer versions of both the HMD and wireless controllers, remain on schedule for the end of 2015.”

Of course, Gattis wasn’t ready to comment on the design of the final HTC Vive yet either. He would only say that it would be “more refined from a design standpoint.”
That’s pretty much what we’ve been expecting anyway, as we assumed it would be more stylish, less bulky and possibly a bit lighter than the current model too.
With the release date announcement only a couple of months away, it’s looking more and more likely that we’ll be getting our heads on the HTC Vive before Santa arrives.
“We remain committed to what we said at our keynote in Barcelona back in March, that is, the first ocnsumer units will be on sale and in the hands of customers before the end of the year.”
