Here’s how to pay for Uber rides taken by other people

Until now, paying for someone else’s Uber journey meant having to use your own phone to make the request – but not anymore.
Uber has announced a new feature that lets you pay for other people’s rides.
According to Uber, one of the most common passenger requests is a way to pay for family and friends. That’s why the company has today announced Family Profiles, which lets up to 10 users share a single payment method.
The downside is that Uber is only launching the feature in three US cities to begin with: Atlanta, Dallas, and Phoenix.
So how does it work? First, you’ll need the latest version of the Uber app – iOS and Android are both supported.
Then head into the Menu and choose Settings, where you’ll find a new ‘Add a Family Profile’ option. Through that, you can send invitations to your contacts to join your inner circle.
Once that’s done, any Family Profile rider will be able to request rides on their own phone, but only the Family Profile will be charged.

While the app may be called Family Profiles, it’s worth noting that you’re welcome to invite friends to join the platform.
It’s an easy way for a business to manage taxi expenses, for example, and the Family Profile organizer will receive all receipts for any journeys taken using the shared account.
