Haz is a smart umbrella that gives you the weather forecast

If you got caught in the rain on Friday, this is the gadget for you. It’s called Haz, and it’s the world’s first fully smart umbrella.
The same app that pings you the notifications also reminds you of the weather, so you’ll know if you need to take it with you.
But it’s perhaps the open and close mechanism that we’re most excited about. One button means you’ll never have to struggle in the wind, or try to juggle all your bags. Check out the video at the bottom of the page to see it in action.
It’s not just good for rain either. It also protects you from harmful UV rays, though we’d advise applying suncream as well to be safe.

And it comes in a range of eye-catching colours: black, navy, royal blue, yellow, green and red.
If you’re quick, you can snap one up for just $69 (£44). At time of writing, it had raised $11,000 of a $15,000 funding goal. If successful, it should ship in October, which is usually flood season, judging from the last few years.
