The Galaxy S9 just got a fun new World Cup feature

Someone call tech support, because Samsung’s officially contracted World Cup Fever.

The firm has released an app called AR Emoji Football Edition (snappy title) for Galaxy S9 and S9+ users, which lets you pretend you’re right at the heart of the action in Russia.

We’re not the biggest fans of AR Emoji, which are supposed to look like you but (more often than not) are way off the mark, but throw a World Cup twist into the mix and we’re fully engaged again.

AR Emoji Football Edition goes a step or two further than standard AR Emoji by slapping the flag of your chosen World Cup team (or a generic football-themed icon, like a ball) to your digital avatar’s face, and making it celebrate very enthusiastically (or look very intense) on a football pitch or in front of a giant flag.

You can send the resultant GIFs to your mates, but be prepared to be torn to shreds in the group chat.

You can download it for free here, but remember, the app is exclusive to S9 and S9+ users.
