Microsoft caused a bit of a storm this week implementing a sneaky new tactic to get PC owners upgrade to Windows 10.
The firm changed the download to a Recommended Update and presented users with a notification scheduling a time to perform the upgrade.
Previously, clicking the red X on the pop up would cancel the update, now dismissing the alert simply implies consent.

That’s annoyed a lot of Windows 7 and 8.1 users who, according to PC World, are disabling all critical updates.
“I fear some segment of consumers will turn off Windows Update as a result,” Wes Miller, research VP at Directions on Microsoft, told editor Brad Chacos, who broke the story earlier this week, “which is a very bad side effect.”
Chacos cites examples from Windows users contacting him on Twitter after doing just that.

Another claims to have kept an outdated GPU in his computer just so Windows 10 would not be compatible.
