EE is literally giving BritBox away − if you’re a pay monthly customer

EE will offer all of its pay monthly customers a free, six-month subscription to… BritBox

From March 13, new and existing EE customers on a pay monthly contract will be able to stream BritBox on a phone, tablet, or TV without eating into their data allowance. They’ll also get a six-month subscription to the service for free.

After that though, it will cost £5.99 per month − a fee that will automatically be added to your monthly bill.

While BritBox isn’t exactly the most high-profile streaming service going, we think this remains an attractive offer from EE, which already offers pay monthly customers six months free access to BT Sport, Apple Music, Apple News Plus and MTV Play.

BritBox offers a wide variety of programming from the BBC and ITV, including the likes of The Crown, Doctor Who, Cold Feet and plenty more.

Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s consumer division (BT acquired EE in 2016) said: “The UK is the birthplace of some of the most iconic TV shows in the world – from Top Gear to Downton Abbey. By partnering with BritBox, we’re giving our customers access to the best British dramas, comedies and films, so they can stream them wherever they are, at home or on the move, thanks to our superfast 4G and 5G mobile network.”

Allera was keen to sing the praises of EE’s speeds and, to be fair, the network has earned some accolades recently. Researchers at RootMetrics found that EE was the UK’s fastest network when they released their findings earlier this month.

Equally, we gave EE the Network of the Year award at the latest Trusted Reviews awards bash, so it’s fair to say we’ve been impressed by the service.

“It’s a match made in heaven,” gushed Will Harrison, the MD of BritBox. “The biggest collection of British box sets together with the biggest network. Now it is easier than ever to sign up to BritBox, whether you watch on the go, or on the big screen in the comfort of your living room. With the first six months included, there’s no excuse not to binge on the biggest collection of British boxsets with a huge range of award-winning shows and new series added every week.”
