Both of Apple’s big gaming gets are coming to Android too

It can be argued the most exciting announcements from last week’s Apple keynote were that Mario is coming to iPhone and Pokémon Go will have a great companion for the Apple Watch.

Immediately after the event we learned Super Mario Run won’t be an iOS exclusive for long and now it seems Android Wear owners will also get the Pokémon Go companion app.

Within the code for the latest Pokémon Go Android app are plentiful clues the wearable companion is on deck. The Pokémon Go Hub website discovered a “pokemongoplus” reference.

“Android app contains a whole new pokemongoplus project referencing Pokemon GO implementation on Android Wear,” the site writes. “The code implementation is marked as complete and release ready.”

As with the watchOS version, Pokémon Go for Android Wear will communicate with the phone via Bluetooth and will work in the background.

It’ll also be possible to play on an iOS smartphone and pair with an iOS watch, according to the report.
