In Apple’s ongoing quest to save the planet, it seems the company will soon make a new and welcome pledge.
Apple plans to phase out the plastic bags it offers to retail customers, a new report reveals.
In a note sent to retail employees, Apple is said to have revealed that the drawstring plastic bags will soon be switched for paper alternatives.
The note, first reported by 9to5mac, supposedly cited April 15 as the switchover date. However, it seems Apple intends for stores to burn through existing plastic bag stock first before making the swap.
The new bags will reportedly come in medium and large sizes, and will be made from paper to be more environmentally friendly.

Speaking at last month’s iPhone SE launch event, Lisa Jackson, Apple’s VP for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, described how important tackling the threat of climate change is to the company.
“Just like everything we do at Apple, when we think about the environment, we think about innovation,” Jackson told press. “We think there’s no greater challenge in the world than our changing climate. The time for action is right now.”
She added: “Our goal is to become 100% renewable in 100% of our operations worldwide. That’s all of our offices, all of our retail stores.”
