Apple Music Festival to live stream on Beats 1

Apple has announced details of its rebranded Apple Music Festival, including the fact that it will stream live on Beats 1.

The company has been hosting a series of London-based concerts annually since 2007 under the iTunes Music Festival name.

Apple has announced that this year’s event will see the festival rebranded as the Apple Music Festival, which ties in with the recent launch of its own all-encompassing music streaming service.

The first Apple Music Festival will take place across ten nights in the UK capital from 19 September, and will include headlining performances from Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Florence + The Machine and Disclosure. The remaining six headlining slots, as well as all of the support slots, are yet to be announced.

As with the iTunes Music Festival before it, all of these performances will take place at the Roundhouse in Camden, but that ten-night run offers a far more condensed format.

The most interesting part of the announcement, though, is that Apple will live stream all of these Apple Music Festival performances for free on its new Beats 1 radio station. That will incorporate video as well as audio, and there will also be backstage news and footage from the artists on Apple Music Connect.

If you want to watch these events live and in the flesh, Apple reveals that “UK residents can apply to win tickets on Apple Music, as well as through media partners including the London Evening Standard.”
