Android and Windows users can now sign up to the Firefox VPN beta – for a time-limited low price

Mozilla has released its Firefox VPN at a time-limited low price for Android and Windows 10 users – here’s how to download it.

While Mozilla opened its Test Pilot Program for Windows users last year, the Android app has only recently joined the beta. The app is now available to download from the Google Play store. Android joins Windows 10 and Chromebook devices, with iOS, Mac and Linux coming in the future.

The VPN is a bargain too, at a limited time beta cost of $4.99 a month.

Unfortunately, the software is only available in the US right now, though more regions – including, presumably, the UK – are set to become available in the future.

So, how do you install the VPN?

If you haven’t joined the waiting list yet, you can sign up here to be notified when the VPN gets released for your operating system or region. If you’re using Windows 10 or an Android device you’ll receive an invite to install the VPN.

Click ‘Join’ in the invite and log in to your Firefox account – if you don’t have one, create an account using the same email address as the one you entered into the waiting list.

Fill out your billing info and click ‘Download’.

Once the software has been installed, turn on the private network and connect to a server of your choice.

The Firefox VPN runs on a network of servers powered by Mullvad and the WireGuard protocol.

WireGuard promises faster speeds and better encryption than those powered by its competition, IPsec and OpenVPN, while Mullvad says it doesn’t monitor or log user browsing history or network activity, which should make it more secure than a number of VPNs on the market.
