Lives up to expectations

- Near DSLR features without the weight.
- Image stability at slow shutter speeds.
- Good low light performance
- Great images
- Lack of external microphone input.
- No remote shutter release.
It's a great camera that has most of the features of a DSLR without the weight. My gripe is that when using it in low light situations, the lack of a remote shutter makes life a bit more difficult as the work-around requires using the release delay feature but for "bulb" settings this becomes a greater issue. The latter could be overcome by extending the shutter times to around 4mins in 0.5min steps , which is only a software tweak. Another add-on that would be nice would be a programmable release feature for taking a sequence of shots at fixed time intervals to overcome the remote problem. Samsung have been quick with firmware releases so I hope they can think about these items.
Despite these issues, the camera performance is crisp with the stock lens yielding highly acceptable results. Image stabilisation works well, particularly at slower shutter speeds with hand-held shots. The jury is still out on the auto-focus as I have had a couple of suspect shots but it's early days and I have to get to grip with all the settings. Videos are good with acceptable sound but the lack of an external mic provision will upset some. All-in-all I am happy with my purchase.
