Want to speed up your commute but are put off by stories of hoverboards bursting into flames? Maybe a scooter will be more your thing.
Zar claims to be the world’s smallest and lightest foldable electric scooter. It weighs just 4kg, and folds up small enough to fit in a backpack. Which means it should be easy to take on public transport.
It goes some distance too. Fully charged, it can go 6.2 miles, or almost twice that if configured correctly.
Of course this being a Kickstarter project it syncs to an app on your phone too. Using it, you can control it from your mobile, and receive information on it in real-time. What kind of information? Things like speed, how much battery is left – which could be crucial – route, remaining distance to your destination, travel trajectory, and security and speed warnings.

You can also limit the maximum top speed, if you’re letting someone else – a child, perhaps – have a go, and customise the lights.
So there you have it. It’s raised $30,000 of a $50,000 goal, and if successful, will ship in March. Want one? Lay down $234 (£160) and you can nab one on an early bird.
