Windows Phone finally set to get updated MS Office app

Microsoft has revealed that there will be news on an improved Microsoft Office app for Windows Phone later this month.

The company will be holding a sizeable event on January 21 to provide the first public reveal of Windows 10, but it should also provide good news for existing Windows Phone users.

For a while now Windows Phone users have had to suffer the indignity of watching their iPhone and Android-owning peers parade fresh standalone Microsoft Office apps while their own version went relatively unmodified.

In many people’s view, the current Microsoft Office experience is better on iOS and Android than on Microsoft’s own.

Now Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore has addressed the issue over on Chinese social network Weibo, as noted by PhoneArena.

“I want to acknowledge the comments and letters you all have sent, noting that you’ve been frustrated seeing Microsoft launch new applications like Office on iOS and Android, without accompanying news around what will happen on Windows Phone,” said Belfiore.

“I want to assure you that our Office team has not forgotten Windows Phone – we’re just aligning all of our news and announcements to a single event.”

Belfiore added that “You’ll hear much more about what we have planned before Chinese New Year.”

Chinese New Year falls on February 19. Combined with talk of aligning news to a single event, this clearly points to the January 21 Windows 10 event as the place where Windows Phone users will get their MS Office due. Or at least news of it.

"Can't Edit Workbook!"

That's got to be the stupidest error Microsoft ever produced. I have lots of other office applications in our office environment such as LibreOffice and older Excel 97 file. Those
files are not editable in my WP8.1 phone. I can't even change a single number.

So I even tried to create a new simple Spreasheet using Excel mobile from my browser and save it on my Onedrive. Even this new file (which was started from blank new file) is not editable on my WP phone.

And this problem has been going on for years since the days of WP7.
