Microsoft has already confirmed that it will use tonight’s event to preview the consumer version of its upcoming operating system and detail how it will benefit you and your PC, laptop or tablet.
“You’ll hear directly from senior leaders from the Operating Systems Group… continuing the story we began in September,” said Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc at the time.
“As you can image, we’re pretty stoked to show you what’s next for Windows 10.”
There’s speculation that Microsoft may release the first Windows 10 Consumer Preview following tonight’s event.
At the moment, you have to sign up for the Technical Preview to get a glimpse of Windows 10, which is only recommended for devs and seasoned PC tinkerers.
Microsoft will also be detailing its ideas for PC gaming in the future, as confirmed by an Xbox Wire post.
“The Xbox Experience isn’t limited just to the console. The Xbox team is continually workinghard to expand and improve the experience across myriad devices – including home gaming PCs, soon to be powered by Windows 10,” said Xbox Wire’s Editor in Chief Will Tuttle.
“Our goal is to help PC gaming flourish, and we’re excited to be helping shape the future of Windows. Phil Spencer [Xbox Boss] will be sharing on the Windows consumer experience at a Windows event on January 21, including the role that gaming will play.”
