Windows 10 hand-off feature may have just leaked

An image of a much-anticipated Windows 10 feature appears to have hit the internet.

One of the key features missing from Windows 10, particularly when compared to Apple’s OS X, is some kind of hand-off facility. That is, the ability to seamlessly and automatically shift calls, messages, and more from a mobile device to a computer (and vice versa).

Such a feature has long been rumoured for Microsoft’s first major Windows 10 update, Redstone, and now we may have caught the first glimpse of it in action.

As MSPoweruser discovered, a screenshot has been posted on Reddit supposedly showing a settings screen from Redstone. More specifically, it seems to show a setting for toggling a hand-off feature on and off.

It grants you the option to “Let apps on your other devices launch apps and continue experiences on this device over Bluetooth.”

Sounds like a handoff feature to us.

Of course, such a feature is hardly a revelation. Besides the repeated rumours, Microsoft introduced something called Project Rome at its Build conference in late March which appeared set to enable such a hand-off feature for third party developers.

Project Rome promises to expand beyond OS X’s Handoff feature by enabling Wi-Fi to be utilised as well as Bluetooth.
