Why is Google opening a restaurant? Allow us to Translate…

Google has opened a pop-up restaurant in New York City. No, really.

The search and mobile giant is temporarily expanding into the restaurant business.

For the next four days the company will be serving international cuisine at a new spot called Small World on the Lower East Side.

Why? Promotion of course.

Patrons will be encouraged to read menus using the awesome Google Translate app on their smartphones and tablets.

“Languages from around the world will be your guide as our guest chefs take you on a journey through the lens of food — our universal language. #EveryoneSpeaksFood,” the company writes (via The Next Web)

Each day will introduce a different menu with Mexican, Afro-Asian-American, Asian and Isreali on the agenda.

Translate of course has wowed users by being able to translate text on menus, road signs and more, just by pointing the camera lens at the subject matter.
