The Amazon Fire TV’s Netflix-like new look is rolling out today

Amazon is rolling out the long-promised update for owners of its Fire TV box and Fire TV Stick.

The new “more cinematic experience,” announced alongside a new Fire TV stick this autumn, brings a brand new interface that seems greatly inspired by Netflix.

The menu, once situated on the left hand side, now sits on top, while featured shows now have plenty of space above the grid of shows and apps.

Featured shows will rotate in a carousel with images, video snippets and trailers running in the background. Amazon reckons this will help you decide whether something is worth watching more quickly.

There's a customisable My Apps and Games menu that'll keep your favourite content easily accessible.

Amazon has also added Your Movies section, bringing together content from subscribed to apps, aimed at helping you decipher which content is free and which is paid.

Like Apple’s new TV app (which we’re currently testing) the new Fire TV interface also pulls in recommendation from other apps. HBO and Netflix are featured right now and each have their own row of recommendations, TechCrunch reports.

PIN protection for some apps has also added, while there’ll also be parental controls.
