Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD and Blu-ray release date revealed accidentally

The release date of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on DVD and Blu-ray has been revealed. And we have the Duracell Bunny to thank.

While the release date hasn’t been announced yet, a tie-in promotional placard advertising Duracell has revealed it as April 18.

This was spotted by Adrian Hill of SFX magazine (via GamesRadar). Hill saw it in his local Tesco.

We’re sure someone at Duracell will be in trouble for this.

This is only the UK release date, there’s no word on a US one, or when the film will be available to buy digitally.

The box art and list of extras have also leaked. Stitch Kingdom claims that they were posted on Walmart’s website before being yanked. Here’s the supposed cover art.

The extra features reportedly comprise: Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey; The Story Awakens: The Table Read; Building BB-8; Crafting Creatures; Blueprint of a Battle: The Snow Fight; The Visual Magic of the Force; John Williams: The Seventh Symphony; Deleted Scenes; Force For Change.

Star Wars Episode VIII is now filming, but its release has been delayed – it won’t hit cinemas until December 15 2017. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which opens on December 16 of this year.

Episode VIII is said to be titled Tale of the Jedi Temple. Please JJ, say it ain’t so…
