Sony has announced a new compact system camera with what it claims is the world’s fastest auto-focus.
The a6300 uses Sony’s 4D FOCUS system, which featured on the a6000 model, and which allows the camera to focus on objects in as little as 0.05 seconds.
Sony claims this has never been seen on an interchangeable lens camera with APS-C sized sensors according to research conducted by Sony as of February 2016.
As well as this, the new model includes 425 phase detection AF points, which means it can shoot at up to 11 frames per second with continuous autofocus and exposure tracking.

It’s impressive stuff from Sony, which has also added the ability to shoot 4K video in Super 35mm format.
When shooting in 4K, the camera uses full pixel readout without pixel binning to collect 20 megapixels of information and oversamples the information to produce high quality footage.
You can also shoot Full HD video at 120 fps.
There’s also a newly developed 24-megapixel APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ X processor.
That equates to images with low noise and improved resolution is sensitivity settings up to ISO 51,200.
There’s no word on UK pricing as yet, although Sony has announced European prices.
The α6300 will be available in Europe from March 2016 priced at approximately €1,250 for the body only and €1,400 with a SELP1650 lens.
That equates to around £950 and £1,060 respectively, but, again, there’s no official word on UK pricing yet.
It will also be available as a kit with the SEL1670Z lens in April 2016, priced at approximately €2,250 (£1708).
