SimCity BuildIt coming to iOS and Android “soon”

SimCity BuildIt is a brand new SimCity game coming exclusively to iOS and Android devices “soon”.

EA announced a new touchscreen version of its SimCity series this morning, called SimCity BuildIt.

The title is an “all-new” entry in the series especially for Android and iOS devices.

“Coming soon to iPhone, iPad and Android devices, this is an all-new SimCity game like you’ve never seen before, designed for gamers on the go”, reads the brief EA announcement.

There’s not many details available at the moment, but it will be “coming soon” to iPhone, iPad and Android tablets and smartphones.

“Pinch, zoom and rotate 360 degrees as you manage your city in the palm of your hand. With countless buildings and vivid, 3D-quality graphics, it’s the most advanced mobile building simulation game.”

There has already been a mobile version of SimCity, literally called SimCity Mobile. It was released back in 2008 and was then replaced by SimCity Deluxe Mobile in 2010.

Strangely, SimCity Deluxe Mobile on the App Store and Google Play has suddenly disappeared. It could be that EA has taken it down in order to promote BuildIt when it launches.

EA did release a few screenshots of SimCity BuildIt ahead of launch, but they don’t give much away about the gameplay.

“The choices you make evolve your city in a variety of ways. Meet your citizens’ needs to keep them happy, or make questionable choices and feel your citizens’ wrath.”
