Emulator monkeys rejoice because Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are coming to the 3DS in February.

We remember the days where our hardest decision was whether to choose Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle at the start of a Pokemon game.

Well, even though our lives have got (a little more) adult, that life-changing decision is back.

Nintendo is re-releasing Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue and the Pikachu-focused Pokemon Yellow exactly as they appeared back in the 1990s on your 3DS – as reported by Wired.

That means fresh Pokemon fans will be able to experience them in their black-and-white glory, while older fans will be able to relive the thrill of finding their first Poke-friend in the long grass.

The expected release date for the re-released trio is February 27, which is a whopping 20 years to the day when the originals were released in Japan.

While there won't be any graphical changes to the classic Pokemon trio, you will be able to trade Pokemon over Wi-Fi rather than the good ol' Game Link Cable.

We're still keeping our fingers crossed for a release of the games on mobile devices. Although we may be waiting a long time for that.
