Philips reveals affordable 4K TVs with Google Cast tech

Philips has announced a new range of affordable Ultra HD televisions, which will feature the increasingly popular Google Cast streaming tech.

The new 6000 series televisions will start out at just $649 (around £443) for the 43-inch model, which will be available from June. The 49-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch sets will hit stores in July.

As well as that 4K display resolution and High Dynamic Range compatibility, the Google Cast tech will make it easy to beam A/V content from iOS, Android, Windows and Mac OS X devices.

The sets are also equipped with Absolute 3D Sound, which Philips says “fills your surroundings with the right ambience, clarifies voice, and details the sound stage, making your experience more immersive and enjoyable.”

The sets coming this year are as follows (via SlashGear). We’ve reached out to Philips for news on UK pricing and availability.

• 43PFL6621/F7 $649.99 July 2016
• 49PFL6921/F7 $799.99 June 2016
• 55PFL6921/F7 $999.99 June 2016
• 65PFL6621/F7 $1499.99 July 2016

The news comes as more manufacturers begin to throw weight behind the Cast technology by effectively placing a Chromecast dongle within their hardware.

Would you consider buying a TV with Cast built in, rather than opt for a platform with a built in Smart TV ecosystem?
