OS X update includes Windows 8 support
Apple has released an update of OS X with a number of tweaks and fixes, but arguably the most significant addition is Boot Camp support for the Windows 8 OS.
Check the Mac App Store updates section now and you’ll find version 10.8.3 waiting to download. Apple lists 18 changes to its operating system.
Chief among these has to be Windows 8 support in Boot Camp. This tool allows you to run the Windows OS on a partition of your Mac’s hard drive, and now the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system is supported.
Speaking of Boot Camp, you can now run the Apple tool on Macs with whopping great 3TB hard drives, which wasn’t possible before.
OS X 10.8.3 Additions
Aside from these Boot Camp revisions, OS X 10.8.3 also adds a new version of the Safari web browser – version 6.0.3. This adds no additional features, but rather a bunch of fixes like improved scrolling in Facebook and when zoomed into web pages.
Apple has also added the ability to redeem iTunes gift cards in the Mac App Store by using your Mac’s in-built camera.
The rest of the OS X 10.8.3 modifications are simple fixes and performance improvements.
Will you be installing Windows 8 on your Mac or MacBook now that Apple has added the ability to OS X? Will the contrast cast OS X in an unflattering light? Let us know on the Trusted Reviews Twitter and Facebook feeds, or via the comments section below.
