Onagofly drone fits in the palm of your hand

Small, but powerful

There are plenty of diddy drones around, but this one has more imaging prowess than most.

It's called Onagofly and it fits in the palm of your hand. Despite its diminutive dimensions, it packs a whopping great 15-megapixel camera, and also records 1080p video at 30 frames per second. The makers claim this will give you results comparable to an iPhone 6S. Though of course there's a lot more to picture quality than mere megapixels.

Like most others it can detect obstacles in its path and avoid them, so you won't see your new toy crash into a telegraph pole on its first outing. It also has GPS navigation skills.

Using the app, you can control it from your smartphone, set it to follow you, and sync photos that it takes. You can also stream its video footage live, giving you a bird's-eye view.

The battery lasts 15 minutes. That might not seem like a long time, but sadly it's about standard for drones of this size.

If you order the Pro Kit, which costs $259 (£174), you'll get a free virtual reality headset, a la Google Cardboard. There's no word on whether the footage it pipes back is in virtual reality, like Flybi, but we'd guess so.

It's shot past its funding goal and will ship in February. Prices start at $199 (£133) on an early bird.

Very much like the look of this, but considering the Zano situation I think ill wait until the retail launch of this before backing - its amazing how similar the specs are to the proposed nano so I am hoping this is a legitimate product since, despite the failure of Zano, it was an excellent idea from the outset

I've got one on order but there are only 7 days to left to pre purchase one of the awesome little drones/quadcopters at there reduced kickstarter price. If you want the link to their kickstarter/indiegogo website click below, check out the specs (some of which are crazy (like having a Sony 15MP 1080p 30fps camera) and purchase one. All their goals have been reached with over 10,000 backers putting in over 2.2 million USD in backing. Get in before they run out.

This review is based on what the author read on the Indigogo campaign page. The posted videos were obviously not taken with a working prototype. There are no videos to date on any shared video sites that show that this drone can fly and take decent videos. It is basically unreliable, unusable, and the follow me and obstacle avoidance features do not work. Do not waste your money on Onagofly...do your homework first and you will thank yourself for staying as far away from this failed campaign as possible.
