Nokia has confirmed that the Nokia Lumia 1020 is launching in the UK today, September 12.

However, this doesn’t mean you can actually purchase one today, as the UK network providers who have already confirmed availability for the 41-megapixel camera touting smartphone, still won’t let you buy one.

In fact, only Three has offered any indication of pricing for the Nokia Lumia 1020, which runs Windows Phone 8 on a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM.

With a 41-megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss technology, the Nokia Lumia 1020 offers a 4.5-inch 1280 x 768p resolution AMOLED screen on which to view those lovely pictures.

Three

Three are offering the Nokia Lumia 1020 32GB model from £34 on its 24-month Ultimate Internet 500 plan, which offers all-you-can-eat data, 500 minutes and 5,000 texts. You’ll have to pay a £69 upfront cost for the Nokia Lumia 1020, which will arrive on September 24.

Available in Black or Yellow, Three is bundling a free accessories pack with the Lumia 1020. The smartphone can also be purchased on a PAYG tariff for £549.99.

Of course, if you opt to buy the Lumia 1020 with Three, you can automatically upgrade to 4G for free when the network launches later this year.

O2

The bubble-themed UK network provider has also confirmed it is stocking the Nokia Lumia 1020, but hasn’t updated its website at the time of writing. It currently states that the camera-centric smartphone will be available sometime this month in yellow or black 32GB models.

It has yet to offer any tariff or PAYG pricing details for the smartphone as yet.

Vodafone

There has also been word that Vodafone will stock the Lumia 1020, but the smartphone isn’t yet listed on the network’s website. Therefore, we can’t give you any pricing or availability details for now, but will update this page with any information when it comes through.

For now you can register your interest on Vodafone site for the device though.

EE and mobile retailers

EE hasn’t mentioned any availability for the Nokia Lumia 1020 on its 4GEE tariffs, and the 41-megapixel smartphone is also absent from the pages of the Phones 4U and Carphone Warehouse websites.

Very Strange, I called 02 and they don't seem to have a clue about the release date of this phone with some saying its not due until at least October!

I think Nokia were hindered by the late release of the Lumia 925. UK carriers didn't want the Lumia 1020 to cannibalise the 925 sales so its being info lockdown with regards to the 1020

Yep I went to a couple of shops today, O2 and CarPhoneWare house, neither had any stock or indeed any clue about pricing or when it might come in. Another stunning Nokia product launch.

I think the problem is more to do with interpretation and reporting. Nokia revealed it was due to LAUNCH in the UK on 12th September... That doesn't mean the same as going on sale.

I have just preordered my O2 exclusive 64Gb Lumia 1020, with a free Accessory pack worth £150 which will be deilivered the day it is RELEASED, which will be 25th September. The accessory pack includes a wireless charging cover, wireless charging plate, camera grip and a small flexible tripod. Everything I was considering buying and more.

I wouldn't exactly call that a botched launch.

And I'd love to know the source for this article, it looks like the same information that was going around before the product specs were confirmed... Hardly anything is accurate.

this country is so slow.........I have been on a rolling contract now ever since my nokia n8 was released and the cam is FAB!! I wasn't keen on the early lumia phones and A work mate said they are not to bad. I want the big camera 41mp(38 all in) so I decided to wait for this phone as it looks fairly decent. The nokia 808 pure view was A tease but had the old symbian software which in the end died of death. I had fun tho with the gameloft games and some decent apps from OVI.

I really hope this phone kicks ass!! not everybody follow Apple, HTC and use android? One thing smartphone companys can't so is beat Nokia in the camera phone market. Nokia win hands down and always have done. Look forward to this phone
