Nintendo has offered fresh details about its upcoming Nintendo Account membership service.

The idea of Nintendo Account is to act as a global account system that ties together all your experiences on Wii U, 3DS, PC, mobile, theme parks and eventually the new Nintendo NX.

According to the recently promoted Nintendo CEO, Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo Account will let you log in with a Facebook, Twitter or Google account, as well as the more traditional email address and passport.

You could also still use your existing Nintendo Network ID, which you use to sign in on your 3DS and Wii U.

Although there's still no date for a full rollout, Nintendo went on to say that the such a universal membership service is an attempt to broaden its audience of gamers through the use of its IP outside of their normal environment.

The Nintendo Account service will tie all the experiences together, including some new membership services.

"By increasing the number of people who have access to this Nintendo IP or video game characters, music and world view, and by increasing the value of Nintendo IP, we aim to further expand the gaming population," Kimishima said.

"More specifically, we will provide people with new applications on their smart devices by utilizing our Nintendo IP. We are also planning to offer new attractions at theme parks by using Nintendo IP. Further, by using Nintendo IP in a variety of other ways, such as licensing and commercializing this IP for visual content and merchandising products, we are planning to maximize the value of Nintendo IP, which has traditionally been used mainly for our dedicated video game systems."
