Motorola’s Moto G update for 2016 is nigh, so it’s no surprise that specs appear to be already leaking out.
The company is expected to launch two handsets – the Moto G and Moto G Plus – later this month. While Motorola has been quiet on the matter, details about both phones have already emerged via Zauba, an import and export tracking website for India.
Based on information provided by Zauba, it seems that at least one of the rumoured phones will be available in both black and white colour variants. Zauba also indicates that at least one of the phones will come with 32GB of storage.
The per-unit value of each handset is listed as 10,881 INR, which is the equivalent – at current rates – to £113 or $164. However, note that Zauba’s cost listings relate to the actual value of the phones, and don’t necessarily reflect retail pricing. We’d expect that the Moto G will cost more once it goes on sale to consumers.
Both Motorola handsets have been rumoured under the codename ‘Athene’. Zauba lists several components under the ‘Moto Athene’ name, including features like NFC and laser flash.

Meanwhile, a PhoneArena report suggests that the Moto G will feature 16GB of storage, a 13-megapixel camera, and 2GB of RAM. The Moto G Plus, meanwhile, is tipped to come with 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and a 16-megapixel camera.

Motorola hasn’t officially announced any details about a 2016 version of the Moto G however, so take these reports with due caution. That said, we’d be surprised if Motorola didn’t release a new version of its popular Moto G handset, appeasing budget buyers.
