As if from the grave…

BlackBerry has finally reported revenue growth, ending a grim two-year streak.

The Canadian smartphone maker posted revenues of $548 million, marking a 12% rise on last quarter.

Those revenues cover the three-month period leading up to November.

It’s BlackBerry’s first revenue growth in over eight quarters.

Revenue is still down 31% on the same period last year, but losses were slimmer too.

This quarter saw $89 million escape the coffers, compared to last year’s $148 million loss.

BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen said revenue rose across the company’s “areas of focus”.

“BlackBerry has a solid financial foundation, and we are executing well,” he added.
