Continuing HTC One release date delays have been confirmed with the Taiwanese manufacturer now expected to launch its new flagship Android smartphone later this month.

Having been formally unveiled in the days leading up to MWC 2013, the HTC One release date was originally pegged for early March, with the 4.7-inch device now facing on-going delays due to reported issues sourcing sufficient camera components.

With the company looking to reinvigorate its flailing footing in the smartphone sector follow a year of disappointing sales and repeated losses in 2012, the latest HTC One release date delays could see the handset pushed back into the clutches of the recently confirmed April 26 Samsung Galaxy S4 release date.

"We are working tirelessly with all of our channel partners to ensure that we can fulfil as many orders as possible," HTC’s Chief Marketing Officer Benjamin Ho said in a recent statement. "We will start fulfilling pre-orders by the end of March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April."

Having been forced to alter its supply chains and levels following a tumultuous year, an unnamed HTC executive has reported that due to having “changed its order forecasts drastically and frequently following last year’s unexpected slump in shipments… HTC has had difficulty in securing adequate camera components as it is no longer a tier-one customer.”

Opting to forgo the standard specs race in favour of a new 4-Ultrapixel snapper, the HTC One camera has been widely well received despite being a contributing factor for the HTC One delays.

HTC One Specs
Pairing the revolutionary Ultrapixel camera with a selection of high-end innards, the HTC One specs sheet sees the handset’s 4.7-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD touchscreen display paired with a beefy 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor and 2GB of RAM.

With Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS running the show direct from the box, the HTC One features list further benefits from a 2.1-megapixel forward-facing camera, Beats Audio sound enhancement and the option of 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Measuring in at just 9.3mm thick and a comfortable 143g in weight, the HTC One is set to be made available with black, silver and red colour schemes.
