Poor Quentin Tarantino. A couple of years back, a leaked copy of his screenplay for the Hateful Eight was leaked online, causing him to scrap plans to shoot the movie, citing a betrayal.

When he eventually got around to making the Western, the release unfortunately overlaps with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, prompting him to claim "Disney is trying to fuck me.”

This week QT's chances of bringing in a mighty box office haul have been further impeded by the leak of a screener copy of the movie, which has surfaced online

According to reports, the film may have been downloaded as many as 600,000 times in the first 24 hours after it was illegally shared.

Now The Hollywood Reporter believes (via Engadget) it has tracked down the source of the leak; the office of Andrew Kosove co-CEO of production company Alcon Entertainment.

According to Kosove, he was sent a copy of the screener so he could consider it for film awards. However, he claims never to have touched the DVD.

"I've never seen this DVD," Kosove told THR. "It's never touched my hands. We're going to do more than cooperate with the FBI. We're going to conduct our own investigation to find out what happened."

It appears as if the DVD may well have been swiped from the office before it could reach Mr Kosove. Apparently, it was signed for by an office assistant called Tom, before it was seemingly pinched.

The movie was posted online by a group identifying itself as Hive-CM8. The group said it has obtained copies for 40 top movies claiming it “will [upload] all of them one after another … started with the hottest title of the year. Others will follow.”

"the release overlaps with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, prompting him to claim "Disney is trying to fuck me.”"

No that's not why he said that.

Tarantino hasn't done a great film since Pulp Fiction. Now he even talks about retiring.
