GTA 5 PC release will be made available for pre-order on Friday, retailer suggests

With gamers having petitioned Rockstar for a wider GTA 5 release, latest reports have suggested a GTA 5 PC edition will be made available for pre-order this Friday.

With a GTA 5 PC release having long been mooted to be on the cards, Nordic retailer Elgiganten, part of the Dixon UK retail group, has claimed that Rockstar will officially announce the title later this week, making the game immediately available to order.

Although it is not believed the game will actually hit store shelves for weeks, or indeed months, a manager of one of the retail chain’s stores reportedly told Gamereactor that a GTA 5 PC edition will be formally confirmed on Friday.

With a high profile petition having seen hundreds of thousands of gamers call on Rockstar to bring GTA 5 to PC, to date the games has been launched exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PS3. At present there is no GTA 5 titles available for next-gen consoles.

A GTA 5 PC release has been repeatedly teased in recent weeks, with a leaked video suggesting the game was in the works.

On top of this, a series of GTA 5 PC bug reports have leaked, hinting that Rockstar is well through the process of testing the new platform launch.

Stay tuned to TrustedReviews for all the latest on the mooted GTA 5 PC release.

Latest reports? The latest reports are all the same old shit from oct-dec of last year. Retailers are obviously hoping to get hits on their ghost-town websites by feeding this kind of into to "writers" and then these so called writers post on their websites believing what a retailer said. Please... Look at the history of retailer placeholder release dates so you don't report on hearsay...

More unsubstantiated unfounded rumors. Rockstar don't seem too give a rats ass about the PC users that's quite obvious.

Or they're simply not wasting their money on hyping the PC market and letting us ourselves hype it out like we're just doing. It's all part of the plot. First the petition hyping us PC gamers to sign for a PC version then "leakage" and now once the hype level is high enough they'll just announce it. If rockstar didn't give rats ass about us PC gamers well we wouldn't have PC version but PC version is already in the works i can bet money on it. :)

Well said, Rockstar don't need to hype anything....

I just don't understand why they are taking so long it comes across as unprofessional realistically.

Greed. Pure and simple. They want people to double dip, buy for console then later when they finally release on PC after no one cares hardly anymore, they get the wave of PC only gamers and then the wave of people who prefer to play on pc but bought a console version just to play for the sake of it. I believe they were paid by MS and Sony to keep it exclusive to consoles as well so people bought their dinosaur hardware just to play a game.

For this reason, I wont be buying it but curious if they will ever announce a release so I can contemplate buying it for 5$ on steam when it happens.

LOL. Guess what, retailer's suggestion was WRONG.

A PC version is already in the works. Regardless of any petitions or code leakage. As they've done in the past, it's not unlikely that it will be released several months after the console release and without any announcement.

I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version is released in March or April (maybe even May).

because of the bloody optimisation dude...singleplayer of this game is not going to be playable for months after release and as for the multiplayer....well...haha ...I give it a year.
