For Honor announced as brand new Ubisoft IP

Ubisoft Montreal has revealed its next big game IP – For Honor.

Announced during the Ubisoft E3 2015 press conference, For Honor is a melee-only combat game that focuses on brutal battles between three factions: samurais, vikings and knights. As you do.

For Honor is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime in 2016, but the demo showcased during the press conference was running on PS4.

Creative Director Jason VandenBerghe talked us through an objective-based multiplayer demo where each team was pushing towards a central objective with a huge army of AI soldiers behind them.

In the demo a knight player was pitted against two samurais and had to fend off their attacks while he waited for an ally to help out.

The combat showcased was pretty brutal and horrendously lethal, with violent fights ending quickly before moving onto the next victim. You can expect some gruesome executions happening in For Honor.

The game uses a new Art of Battle system to give you full control over the placement of your weapons, making sure you can attack and move as you would naturally.

Although only the multiplayer was showcased at E3 2015, there will apparently be a single player campaign in For Honor as well.
