Despite suffering a defeat by Spurs at the weekend, Manchester City have started the season pretty well and are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table.
So perhaps rival clubs will take a leaf out of City boss Pep Guardiola’s book and rid their training grounds of mobile connectivity too?
Veteran City defender Pablo Zabaleta says the Wi-Fi at the club’s training complex has been blocked, while there are also designated areas free of 3G signal. Oh, the humanity!
The idea, Zabaleta says, is to foster better relationships within the squad.
“He forces us to have breakfast and lunch together at the club. The internet is cut off, we are held incommunicado. We don’t even use 3G,” he told TyC Sports in Argentina.
While incommunicado generally means you’re not allowed to talk to anyone at all, it’s clear the City defender is pained by the situation.
